Local Restaurant of the Week - Orsay
I love to feature local businesses and this weeks happens to be a favorite restaurant in historic Avondale – Jacksonville
Orsay History
Orsay was born in 2008 by Johnathan Insetta with a French – American cuisine. Insetta graduated for the culinary institute of America in NY.
Insetta was raised in Mandarin, a sub-section of Jacksonville so he is invested in our local community.
Avondale is a beautiful part of the downtown area of Jacksonville. It is adjacent to Riverside and the two mesh together. This area is rich in diversity, quirky shops, local vibes and some really great restaurants. Orsay by far is one of my favorites.
Getting to know Orsay
Orsay is the kind of spot that is great for a celebratory dinner or just a meeting up spot for colleagues. The building itself is inviting with painted brick, exposed ceilings and a moody feel to it. I would say Orsay is pretty sexy for a building. The interior is sophisticated and casual – two things pretty hard to blend but they have done it perfectly.
The Avondale – Riverside area is unique and really a very different vibe than beach side. The area will take you back to an era where things were classic. The Riverside area was one of the first places I visited when I moved to Jacksonville, honestly it reminded me of South Carolina. The homes in the area are classic and set a backdrop for Orsay.
I would advise getting a reservation, they do fill up quickly.
The menu is really unique, they are constantly binging in new ingredients and using them in unexpected ways. Their oyster selection is outstanding, the spinach salad is one of my favorites and the choice of entrées will have your head spinning trying to pick just one.
I love a good mean the only thing that is better than a good meal is a good meal and great service. Orsay does this effortlessly, the entire experience with their staff makes you want to go back.
I highly recommend Orsay – it will be a favorite of yours to.
